Excellent food

Excellent food on a changing menu, with daily specials. Not typical pub grub, but varied European. Good beer. Wide enough wine list. Friendly pub with a few decorative eccentricities. Characterful staff. Patio/shaded garden for the Summer. Good idea to book for food as it can be full. Their bread is made there. Take some home if they can spare you a loaf! Do try the puddings.

Good, honest English boozer

This Sam Smith's pub may be classed by some as being a little 'down-at-heel', but give me this pub over any chain bar any day. Great atmosphere, excellent draught beers (recommend a pint of Alpine lager) and very friendly staff and regulars.

Excellent food/beer

Had occasion to visit unexpectedly and arrived only just before the restaurant was due to close on a Sunday. Despite this, the service was faultless. The food was delicious - all home made - piping hot and the portions were extremely generous. The drinks were served at the right temperature and the glasses were clean. Toilets somewhat olde worlde but clean and well-maintained. Thoroughly recommend a visit to this pub

only been here once for a meal with friends but was pleasantly surprised. The food was excellant and the staff were very friendly, would definately go back with family or friends.

good friendly pub

a very friendly pub with welcoming bar staff. frequented by both locals and visitors to cullen and all are greeted the same way by campbell and anne the owners. fine for nipping out for quick pint or for meeting a group of friends for the evening. food not bad either with a reasonable sized restaurant, kids welcome in restaurant. during the good weather there is a lovely beer garden which is well used.

Best pub food in the area

Excellent food at very reasonable prices, attentive service and a a lovely atmosphere inside a great english country pub. Well worth a visit.

A great time for all

Usually when pubs 'do food' it ruins the charm. This combines the two perfectly offering great food or just a pint of real ale if you prefer. There are regular entertainment nights and if you like a giggle and first rate service check out Nolan who manages the place

Real Food & Log Fires

Traditional Country Inn, Excellent quality food and a good locals bar atmosphere.

Bed and Breakfast was superb - beautiful newly refurbished rooms.

Great food and staff!

I have been many times, and held events there. 9 times out of ten it has been great. Fairly pricey for a pub ....

Great Food but expensive drinks

I recently went here with colleagues for a meal and whilst the food was superb I had to object to about the price of the drinks (over £3 for a shandy is incredibly steep).

Other then that the food was superb and the atmosphere is warming and exactly what you would expect from a countryside pub :)

This is a traditional market town Inn with atmosphere and friendly service good ale.

Enjoyed

I went in to watch some football, had a few beers, didn't seem too expensive, had a meal as well which was fime, the staff were friendly enough and it was fullish, mostly with biker types though. I enjoyed my experience of The Borough, would definatley return.

Good example of traditional pub

Haven't been for years but this place has lots of character and is probably one of the oldest buildings in Louth. Worth a trip for the cosy pub feel inside.
